Please join Cecil Byrne Gallery in Charleston, SC, for our ‘BRINGING BEAUTY BACK’, a juried exhibition of works in a wide array of media. What does beauty mean to you as an artist? Do you see beauty in the diverse array of people in your neighborhood, your landscape, architecture, wildlife that surrounds you, or in abstract interpretations of light? Let’s bring the big, beautiful world as you see it to Charleston, SC.
The reception will be held during the famous French Quarter Artwalk in Charleston on March 3, 2017. Your art will be seen by people from around the country and around the world in Charleston, South Carolina - rated the #1 city in the world by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine.
Cecilia Murray, award-winning artist and owner of Cecil Byrne Gallery, will be this year’s judge of entries.
Jeanne Rosier Smith, PSA, will be judge of awards.
Smith is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, the American Society of Marine Artists, an IAPS Masters Circle member, and a juried artist member of the Copley Society, the Salmagundi Club and Academic Artists of America. She has exhibited at the Massachusetts State House, the Guild of Boston Artists, and nationally at the Pastel Society of America, the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Arts Club and American Artist Professional League shows. Her work has garnered top awards, including the Prix de Pastel (Best in Show) from IAPS, The International Association of Pastel Societies, a Grand Prize in International Artist Magazine Seascape Competition, and an Art Spirit Foundation Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Pastel at the American Artists Professional League.

Hand Delivery of Works: FEBRUARY 16 - 18 between 12 PM – 5 PM. Shipped Entries Arrive: between FEBRUARY 13 - 18 via UPS or FEDEX with return ship label inside the box. Entries that arrive without a return ship label will not be accepted.

GALLERY HOURS: MON- SAT 11 AM – 6 PM.
Cash and merchandise awards totaling over $1200 for Best in Show, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded by the judge of awards, including a 'First Place' award from The Princeton Artist Brush Co., valued at $495; merchandise gift certificates generously sponsored by Jack Richeson & Co. for $150, $125 and $100, and an Honorable Mention Award from Diane Townsend Artist Pastels, valued at $85. Entry must fit the show theme of ‘BRINGING BEAUTY BACK’. Work must be created during the last four years. Amateur artists are welcome to enter. All artwork will be judged equally regardless of professional status.
All 2-D artworks such as, but not limited to, painting, drawing, mixed media, printmaking and photography will be considered The maximum allowed size is 40” x 50” not including the frame. Photographs must be printed on photo or fine art paper – they may not be printed on canvas or mounted to panels. Works must be framed to Cecil Byrne Gallery specifications (see framing requirements below), properly wired and ready to hang. . 3-D Artwork will be considered, but must be hand delivered and pick-up at the specified date/time. The juror reserves the right to disqualify any work not suitably presented or that varies from the submitted image. All works must be for sale. Center of wire on back of frame must be 3” from top of frame. For small works (under 12” framed) wire must be 2” from top of frame.
Sales Commission: 50% artist 50% Cecil Byrne Gallery. Artists with sold work will be issued a check for the sale within 30 days of the close of the exhibition.
Oils, acrylics & mixed media can be unframed if gallery wrapped edges are painted, but other two-dimensional work must be framed. No Photography on canvas. All 2D work must be properly & securely wired and ready to hang. Simple frames are preferred, acceptable colors: silver, gold, black & any dark wood. Mats: neutral white, acid free (like Bainbridge 8655), colored filets ok, and either double 4-ply or single 6 or 8-ply mats. All works under glass must use Museum Glass.
ENTRY PROCEDURE: Non-refundable Entry fee is $35 for one entry, $10 for each additional entry, payable when you submit to OnlineJuriedShows.com before the entry deadline.
ACCEPTED WORKS: If you work is accepted, there will be a $15 handling fee for each accepted work. Details will be sent with your acceptance email. Each artwork must be labeled with the artist’s name, medium, title, and price.
PLEASE NOTE: When filling out your information while entering the show at OnlineJuried Shows.com, please be sure all information is correct – spelling, title, pricing of your artwork. All information is input by the Artist and is used by Cecil Byrne Gallery for reference, printed materials and online postings.
Diptychs and triptychs are considered one work. Works are juried by digital image only.
ENTRY IMAGE INFORMATION: Works will be juried by digital image only.
Entry form must be filled out in its entirety. List sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right-side-up.
Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space. Images are used for jurying and web and printed materials.
LIABILITY: All work will be handled with great care. Neither Cecil Byrne Gallery or its representatives will accept responsibility for loss or damage of work. Artists are responsible for safety of work during transit to and from the gallery. Submission by an artist will indicate agreement by the artist to these conditions. Artist agrees that all work submitted is original.
